Violet H. Colp


On Sept. 11, Mrs. Violet H. Colp, 88, of Colpton, passed away at the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg, after a short stay. She was the daughter of the late Ephraim and Annie (Baker) Haines. Surviving are two daughters, Elsie (Mrs. Harris Colp), Colpton, Ruby (Mrs. Royden Selig), East Clifford, two sons, Stanley, of Bridgewater, and Arlyn, Colpton, 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Archibald, a son, Eldon, a daughter, Mildred, a brother, Ora, sisters, Reeva, Dorothy and Hildred. Nanny, as she was know to many, was a devoted member of the Trinity United Church, Pleasant River. She was also a member of the Nova Scotia Teachers' Union, having been a teacher for 15 years. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Walter Ziffer at the Pleasant River United Church on Sept. 13, with interment in the Lakeview Cemetery, Pleasant River. Acting as pallbearers were Nanny's seven grandsons, Mervyn, David, Terry, Lynn, Kevin, and Brent Colp and Richard Selig. (hand written on obituary - 1982)
