June 24 - A daughter, Mary Elizabeth, is born to Raymond and Sylvia (Tretheway) Waterman of Pleasant River.

July - A Wartime Wedding: Ruby Evelyn Colp, daughter of Violet and the late Arch Colp, exchanges vows with Royden Selig, son of Rufus and Alma (MacKay) Selig. Both serve in the Royal Canadian Air Force: Ruby as a wireless operator in Montreal; Royden as a gunner. They pose for their wedding photo outside the groom's lakeside home in East Clifford, Lunenburg County.


July 30 - A daughter, Elaine, is born to Randolph and Vida Selig.


Sept. 22 - A daughter, Betty Anne, is born to
Harris and Elsie (Colp) Colp of Colpton. Harris,
a Corporal in the Canadian Army, is stationed
at Camp Debert - and rushes home by train
to meet his second child.
